Safe, Stable Homes for Seattle Families
First Place provides housing, case management, and support for families with children experiencing or at risk of homelessness in Seattle’s Central District.
Our Mission
First Place provides needed support for safe, secure housing and education for families with children experiencing or at risk of homelessness. The homelessness factors for the Seattle area place a growing number of families into the reality or risk of being homeless. First Place has made housing and educating students key elements of how we care for our community.
Housing that builds stability
Imani Village is a 16-unit townhome community next to our Central District building that provides permanent subsidized housing with case management. We also manage and bring case management to families at Nhon’s Place, and we provide transitional housing to families at the most significant risk of homelessness.

Housing stories
Families come to First Place in difficult moments. With a safe home and a case manager in their corner, parents find steady work, children settle into school, and families move on to permanent housing. Read their stories and meet the staff who walk alongside them.
Serving Seattle since 1989
First Place was founded by educators and social workers who saw that homeless children were not in school and decided to do something about it. Today we continue that work through housing, case management, and early learning in the Central District.
Help a family find a safe home
Our fundraising allows us to subsidize rents and provide family case management so families can build stable, safe, and secure lives. Your gift today is vital and appreciated.
